This free one day conference and quiz event is brought to you by the White Rose Maths Hub. We are one of 34 national Maths Hubs, and work alongside three other hubs in the Yorkshire and Humber region. The lead school within the hub is Trinity Academy Halifax, an outstanding academy based in Halifax, West Yorkshire.
We are working with more than 500 primary and secondary schools across our designated areas of Bradford, Calderdale, Kirklees and Leeds to raise standards and inspire children and their teachers about the power of Maths. We work closely with the local authorities in our areas to ensure that our work complements the support already available, and builds our capacity for the future.
As a hub, we have brought you this event to provide an introduction to what we will be doing to support you. We passionately believe everyone can be a Mathematician. As primary and secondary practitioners, we are vital to ensuring that children and young people realise this. However, we also appreciate that at times support and inspiration is needed to make this vision a reality.
- Everybody is capable of being a great Maths teacher and a great Maths student. Our training, knowledge and support aims to help to ensure that this happens.
- That a mastery approach can transform outcomes. A key focus of work will help schools explore and succeed with this powerful technique.
- That Maths is fun and a basic life-skill. We are supporting recruitment into the profession, as well as inspiring all teachers about how to improve their own practice.
